Riad Souafine

Ifrane South of Riad Souafine

Ifrane: 60km from Fez.

Ifrane, deserves a stroll, this small town in the Middle Atlas, dominated by its austere Royal Palace, in the middle of the of legendary cedars, transports the visitor beyond the African continent. Originally, the first half of the 20th century century, before independence, it was mainly home to the French bourgeoisie based in Fez, which came to seek out a bit of freshness during hot summers. Today, many Fassis have their second home there.

Every year in winter the snow covers Ifrane and its region, it is the opportunity to do sledging and even skiing.

The most surprising thing for tourists in Ifrane is the architecture of the Anglo-Norman, Basque or Alsatian style houses whose fireplaces often house gigantic nests of storks.
